Wanda Ikerd

Wanda is a graduate of Heavilin Beauty College in Missouri. She opened her own salon in 1994 and at the same time was co-owner of a roofing company. The roofing company employed two teams of 10 men each and Wanda did all the payroll and bookkeeping for both her shop and the roofing company.

She sold the shop in Missouri and moved to Florida and became office manager for a cleaning company in Orlando until 2000. She then took a position in the finance department of Wycliffe Bible Translators Headquarters in Orlando. After six years in that position, she met Chuck Ikerd whom she married, and they moved to Georgia.

Chuck and Wanda have been ‘friendly visitor’ volunteers for When HELP Can’t Wait since approximately 2008; they also help with fundraisers, in the office or wherever they are needed. Wanda is amazingly adept at mechanical things and is lovingly known as our ‘mechanic’ at WHCW. They are both currently enrolled in the Grace Corps Chaplain Training Program under the Institute of Religion and Health and hope to serve as Chaplains or ‘Pastoral Care Volunteers’ for When HELP Can’t Wait in area Nursing Homes.

Wanda lives with husband Chuck in Grovetown, GA and they have 3 daughters and 2 grandchildren. They are members of Abilene Baptist Church in Martinez.
